Working with ConcreteLook clay plaster
Application ConcreteLook Read the worksheet
ConcreteLook is a clay plaster for sufficiently load-bearing walls in the interior. Only apply as an exterior plaster on walls protected from rainwater. Suitable for damp areas; Do not apply in places where direct contact with water occurs.
Suitable for 0.5 to 1 mm thick plastering of flat and wallpaper-ready surfaces such as basic clay, lime and gypsum plasters, concrete and plasterboard.
Tierrafino ConcreteLook is applied to all surfaces ready for painting after priming with Tierrafino Contact Fine.
Preparation of the substrate for ConcreteLook clay plaster.
Load-bearing surface, constantly dry, absorbent, flat but sufficiently coarse for mechanical adhesion and free of dust and grease. Remove wallpaper and paint residue.
Pre-treat smooth and non-absorbent surfaces with Tierrafino Contact Fine. Pre-treat highly absorbent surfaces with Tierrafino Fix or moisten with a little water and allow to absorb into the surface before application, so that a longer processing time and good adhesion are achieved. Tierrafino Base and Lime are ideal substrates for ConcreteLook.
Working with ConcreteLook clay plaster
The layer thickness per layer to be applied is 0.5 – 1 mm.
Mat
400-500 grams of dry mixture is required for 1 m2. Apply one coat with a trowel and let dry. Consumption is higher when processing on coarse surfaces.
Shiny
2 x 400-500 grams of dry mixture are required for 1 m2. Apply the first coat with a trowel and let dry. Then apply a second coat with a trowel and polish the finish.
Shiny with wax
Process the first and second layers as described under the heading ‘Glossy’. After drying, apply Tierrafino Wax.
Finishes
The vapour-open structure of ConcreteLook clay plaster makes it possible for dirt to adhere.
For this reason, the product is only used without post-treatment in decorative areas that are not heavily loaded with dirt. If the finish is treated with Tierrafino Wax, the surface can be wiped off with water. To do this, apply a mixture of 50% Tierrafino Wax and 50% water three times with a roller. Wait until the surface has dried after each treatment. When the third treatment is applied, the ConcreteLook no longer darkens. If this is the case, consider applying additional layers until the BetonLook no longer darkens.
Special Effects
Concrete Look with little drawing
Apply a maximum of 1.5 mm to the wall with a plaster trowel, ensure that the layer thickness is so thick that the coarser grain in the material is not on the surface. If the surface has become matt after setting, plaster it one more time and let it dry. Repeated plastering creates more drawing and shine.
Concrete Look with fine Marmorino-like finish
Apply approx. 1 mm with a plaster trowel, create a desired design with the trowel and let dry. After drying, apply a second, thinnest possible layer. Plaster the surface when it has become matt after setting. If necessary, lightly moisten the surface with a mist of water and repeat the plastering process. Repeated plastering creates more drawing and shine.
Concrete Look with fine Travertino-like finish
Apply approx. 1.5 mm with a plaster trowel. By dabbing the surface with a brush or hard brush, holes are created and some material is pulled forward. If the surface has become matt, plaster it flat after setting, but in such a way that holes remain. If necessary, spray more with a mist of water and plaster. Repeated plastering creates more drawing and shine.
