 Rammed earth

Coevorden

Rammed earth in the main entrance of Coevorden Town Hall, Netherlands. The city administration had investigated the topic of rammed earth and realised that such a thick wall has a great capacity to absorb a lot of humidity and, if necessary, release it again by itself. For the most part, the giant wall brings a huge piece of nature into the building.

The town hall in Coevorden, designed by the architectural firm Rau and Partners, is a real treat thanks to the installation of the rammed earth wall. With thanks to Charles Thuijls and his colleagues.
