Rammed Earth Urn Wall

Spijk

Rammed earth in a cemetery in the Netherlands, where we were commissioned by the world-renowned artist Louwrien Wijers to construct an urn wall, a wall at the ash scattering field and the entrance walls to the cemetery using our rammed earth techniques. Here, one can truly say ‘back to earth’. It must be a great joy to be buried here.

The rammed earth work was carried out by Charles Thuijls' team. The material came recycled from a French farm that had to make way for a motorway extension. All the tadelakt work was carried out by our team in a workshop. Of the many participants, a professional postman emerged as the finest tadelakt specialist.

Health benefits of Rammed Earth

At Tierrafino, we believe that true beauty is inseparable from health. Our commitment to using 100% natural ingredients means that our rammed earth not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your spaces but also contribute significantly to a healthier environment.

  • Our clay-based products are free from harmful chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), reducing the presence of toxins in your home or workplace.

  • Clay naturally regulates humidity by absorbing and releasing moisture, helping to maintain optimal indoor humidity levels. This reduces the likelihood of mold growth and creates a more comfortable living environment.

  • The antistatic nature of clay surfaces reduces dust accumulation, making it an excellent choice for people with allergies or respiratory sensitivities.

  • The density of our natural plasters absorbs sound, reducing echo and noise pollution within your space.
